History of School
Sacred Heart Girls’Anglo Indian Higher Secondary School (S.H.Y.),is a ‘Temple of learning’ where everyone is led to experience a sense of sacredness as a child of God. The school is nestled in the Shevaroys Hills of Yercaud, has a world-wide reputation. This Institution had its modest origin in 1894, founded by the Sisters of St. Joseph of Cluny.
Nurtured by the springs of love and unstinted service by these Sisters, this School has grown into a prestigious Institution, harmonizing spiritual, moral, academic and civic values to impart an all-round education. A place where students are provided with opportunities to become enlightened citizens and leaders of Future India.
Achievements in the field of education have reached a high degree of excellence. Co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, namely, music, singing, dance, dramatics, sports, Guides & Bulbuls and other activities have helped our students to develop and exhibit their latent talents, creativity and respect for human values. Though the school is primarily for Catholic girls, students of all denomination are admitted, without, any interference with their religious beliefs. The Boarders are always under the care and the supervision of the sisters, who spare no effort to create a cheerful, home – like environment in which they can be happy and contented.
