The Administration and Teaching Staff of S.H.Y. by their tireless efforts give quality education to the students, preparing them for the Anglo-Indian Board High School Examination (Common Syllabus), now known as the Anglo-Indian School Leaving Certificate Examination. Cent per cent results, state rank holders, subject rank holders and recipients of State Awards have brought S.H.Y. to a pinnacle of eminence, who are valued and responsible members of the school community, entrusted with the implementation of the school policy and contributing by their example and way of life to the development of each student with whom they are in contact.

The teachers, having closer contact with the students, exercise greater influence. Both teaching and non-teaching staff make an exceedingly important contribution to the school atmosphere, especially in their cheerful readiness to render service.

Methodology of Teaching (Strategies)

House System

The students are categorized into four Houses-Anne’s, Marians , M arguerites and Teresians, each with its own flag, a Captain and a Vice-Captain. Healthy rivalry spurs on excitement to a pitch during Inter-House matches and sports. The flame of enthusiasm blazes high individual and group projects by students.
House dramatic Talent Contests.Inter-House quiz contests and Art and Craft competitions re also con-ducted. Championship cups and Rolling shields are awarded to the winning House of each contest.The object of the House-System is to develop healthy competition, initiative, talent, team spirit, loyalty and the ability to take defeat with a smile.

Junior Literary Association

Junior Literary Association (J.L.A.), was inaugurated in the later years of our Sisters. The Association was an outcome with the initiation of our experienced teachers. The goal of the JLA is to create an opportunity to exhibit the individual’s hidden talents. Dance, Drama and music are the areas of interest. Above all ‘Truth triumphs” is the motto of the Junior Literary Association.

Sports & Drills

A Healthy mind rises from a healthy body, extra attention is given to games, sports and drills. Games include volley ball, throw ball, basket ball and kho-kho . A much looked-forward to event of the year is the Annual Sports Meet and Drill competitions with the four Houses vying for the championship. Our young athletes excel in field events. The audience is held spell-bound while watching the spectacular March-past with the School Band leading. No less spectacular are the colourful Drill displays and Athletic feats.
